South Korea Road To Russia FIFA World Cup 2018

An Eastern Asian nation with 9 FIFA World Cup Appearances and official FIFA ranking of 59 i.e. South Korea has made its journey to Russia FIFA World Cup 2018. The association of Football in South Korea was established in 1933 and the present president of the Korea Football Association is Mr. Mong Gyu Chung. South Korea made their first FIFA World Cup appearance in 1954 when FIFA World Cup was hosted by Switzerland. The best performance for South Korea in FIFA World Cup was in 2002 when South Korea managed to appear semifinals; FIFA World Cup 2002 was hosted by Japan and South Korea.South Korea is only the Country from Asia to appear FIFA World Cup more than just any other countries.

World Cup Qualifier Asia

All the 46 members of the association will take part in the competition that takes places in four rounds. For FIFA World Cup 2018 four teams will qualify from Asia and the team that finishes fifth goes for the intercontinental playoffs. In the round two forty remaining teams are divided into eight different groups and the winner of each group along with the best four runner-ups will advance to the third round of the qualifier. Twelve teams on round three are divided into two groups each containing 6 teams where the teams on each group will play one another in a home and away round robin pattern and the winners of each group and runners-ups qualifies for the FIFA World Cup 2018. Two teams that finish third place in each group advance to round four and the winner from round four reaches to the intercontinental playoffs.

South Korea managed to will all of the seven games during their qualifier round in World Cup qualifier Asia. On the second round of the World Cup qualifier, South Korea was head to head against Laos where South Korea managed to win creating a higher superior degree of eight goals. Remaining on the top of the table at the last round of World Cup qualifier South Korea made their road to Russia.

FIFA World Cup 2018 Group F

The final draw of FIFA World Cup 2018 has placed Korea Republic in Group F where the Korea Republic has to play against  Mexico, Germany, and Sweden and qualify for the knockout stage into the round of sixteen’s.

The Fixtures for Germany in Group Stage are:

  • Sweden – Korea Republic ( Monday, 18 June)
  • Korea Republic – Mexico ( Saturday, 23 June)
  • Korea Republic – Germany (Wednesday, 27 June)
