In 1919, December 20 the Polish Football Federation was established in the Capital of Poland, Warsaw. Poland lost its first official international match against Hungary in 1921 and their first win was against Sweden. Poland qualified for the first time in FIFA World Cup 1938. During their debut in the FIFA World Cup, Poland would play Brazil in a match which would become one of the greatest matches in the FIFA World Cup history. In 1974 FIFA World Cup Poland met Argentina and the match finished 3-2 in favor of Poland and in second game Poland thrashed Haiti by 7 goals and they won against Italy in the third game. Poland finished third in the 1974 FIFA World Cup. In 1978 FIFA World Cup Poland got eliminated from the second round of the tournament. With their extraordinary performance in 1982 FIFA World Cup, they again reached the semifinal of the tournament and finished third place. Poland got eliminated from the round of 16 in 1986 FIFA World Cup. Poland did not advance to the FIFA World Cup for three consecutive times in the year 1990, 1994 and 1998. In 2002 FIFA World Cup Poland got eliminated from the group stage and same happened in the next FIFA World Cup 2006. Poland did not qualify for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and 2014 FIFA World Cup. But Poland would play the tournament I 2018 FIFA World Cup.
World Cup Qualifier Europe
The World Cup qualifier in Europe selects 14 countries for the FIFA World Cup and for 2018 FIFA World Cup; Russia qualifies for being a host country. 52 countries who are the members of FIFA from Europe go for the preliminary competition where those 5 countries were divided into 9 groups in which 7 groups contain 6 teams and rest of the two groups contain only 5 teams. England, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, and Spain are placed in a group containing 6 teams. Winners from each group qualify automatically and the eight best runners-up go for the playoffs from which 4 teams are selected. Thus, in this way, the Europe qualifier selects 14 nations for the FIFA World Cup.
Poland finished first in Group E along with Denmark, Romania, Montenegro, Kazakhstan, and Armenia with a total of 25 points. Poland won 8 games out of a total of 10 games. Poland drew a match 2-2 against Kazakhstan and lost a match 4-0 against Denmark. Poland qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2018 as a Group E winners and the striker Robert Lewandowski scored record 16 goals in the qualifying tournament and become the nation’s top goal scorer.

The final draw of FIFA World Cup 2018 has placed Poland in Group H where Poland has to play against Senegal, Japan, and Colombia and qualify for the knockout stage into the round of sixteen’s.
