Panama Road to Russia FIFA World Cup 2018

The Central American Country that has not yet appeared in the FIFA World Cup with official FIFA ranking of 56 is Panama. There is no any FIFA history for Panama because the first FIFA World Cup for Panama is FIFA World Cup Russia 2018. The association of football was formed in 1937 for Panama. Panama has achieved the winner title of CCCF Championship in 1951, COPA Centro Americana champions in 2009 and runner-ups in 2007 and 2017. The country has also achieved two runner-up titles of CONCACAF Gold Cup. There was a declaration of a public holiday by the president in Panama when they were qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2018 Russia.

World Cup Qualifier Concacaf

All the 35 members of the association from North, Central America and Caribbean zone participate in the competition. The competition goes for the five rounds and first three teams will directly qualify for the FIFA World Cup and the fourth country goes for the inter-continental playoff. After the completion of round two 10 winners joins two teams that have ranked 7 and 8 according to FIFA Coca-Cola World ranking and these 12 teams will compete in round three where two plots are chosen and one of them contains the six higher ranked teams and other contains six lower ranked teams. The six winners from round three advance to the fourth round where they compete with the six top-ranked team in the region these twelve teams are separated into three groups the group winners and runners-up advanced to round five.the six teams in the round five is placed into the single group and the top 3 teams from round five qualifies for FIFA World Cup and the 4th team goes for the inter-continental playoff. Panama qualified for FIFA World Cup 2018 through these qualification rounds.


FIFA World Cup 2018 Group G

The final draw of FIFA World Cup 2018 has placed Panama in Group G where Panama has to play against Belgium, Tunisia and England and qualify for the Knockout stage into the round of Sixteen’s.

  • England – Panama  (Sunday, 24 June)
  • Panama – Tunisia (Friday, 29 June)
