Jacob Tremblay was born on October 5, 2006 in Vancouver, British Columbia. He is the second child of father Jason Tremblay who is a police detective and a stay-at-home mother Christina Tremblay. He has two sisters named Emma and Erica Tremblay who are also actors.


This Canadian actor first stepped into the entertainment world via Television. In 2013, he appeared in an episode of the TV series Motive as Riley Stanwyck. In the following years, he acted in some episodes of TV series such as Mr. Young (2014), The Last Man on Earth (2016), Billy on the Street (2016), American Dad! (2016) and gave his voice to the animated adaptation of a children’s book series Pete the Cat (2017). Moreover, he acted in television short films- My mother’s Future Husband (2014) as Conner and Santa’s Little Ferrets (2014) as Ted Collins.

Jacob debuted in movies from a computer-animated comedy film Smurfs 2 as Blue Winslow alongside Neil Patrick Harris. He also acted in short films such as The Magic Ferret (2013) and Gord’s Brother (2015) then he acted on an American science fiction horror movie Extraterrestrial in 2014.

In 2015, he landed one of the major films of his career till date Room, adapted from the novel by Emma Donoghue, directed by Lenny Abrahamson where he played the character of Jack Newsome alongside Brie Larson. He played the character of an innocent long-haired little boy who had been held captive with his mother since his birth. He beautifully portrays his experience to the outside world after he and his mother have escaped from the hostage situation. The movie was a success in the box office and the performance of Jacob was highly acclaimed globally.


After Room, Trembley got many movies offers and subsequently in the year 2016 he performed on films such as  a comedy movie Donald Trump’s The Art of the Deal: The Movie,  a dark fantasy horror movie Before I Wake, an adventure comedy-drama Burn Your Maps as well as a psychological thriller drama film Shut In. In all these movies, Tremblay performed extraordinarily and was critically praised.

Recently in 2017, he acted on The Book of Henry as Peter Carpenter alongside Naomi Watts and Maddie Ziegler and he also gave a soulful performance on an American drama film Wonder as August Pullman, based on a novel by R.J. Palacio of the same name.

Jacob is an extremely proficient actor even at this age. He is to portray the role of Young Rupert Turner in the movie The Death and Life of John F. Donovan, directed by Xavier Dolan which also stars Kit Harrington and Natalie Portman among others that is to be released in 2018. He is also set to star in much anticipated American science-fiction horror movie The Predators which is a fourth installment of the Predator film series, directed by Shane Black and is announced to hit the cinemas on 3 August 2018.

Personal Life

Trembley lives in Langley City, Canada with his parents and sisters. He is a Lego enthusiast, enjoys hockey and traveling with his parents and friends.  He adores Marvel Superhero Ironman and is a huge fan of Oscar Issac as well as Star Wars movie series so much that he has named his dog as ‘Rey’ after the protagonist of the blockbuster movie. He is active on Instagram and Twitter with around 526k and 88.8k followers respectively. He also shares a good rapport with his co-stars like Brie Larson.


Undoubtedly Jacob has stolen many hearts with his performance mainly through his movie Room which consequently has led him to be nominated for many reputed awards shows and has even won some of those. Though he didn’t win it, he is the youngest actor to be nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role at the Screen Actors Guild Awards for Room in 2016 which is considered a milestone achievement for a child artist. Furthermore, he won Best Performance by an actor in a Leading Role by Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, Most Promising Performer by Chicago Films Critics Association, Best Young performer by Critics’ Choice Movie Award and Best Breakthrough Performance by National Board of Review and San Diego Film Critics Society for his movie Room in 2016. His role in Room also led him to win Best Actors Award from the Washington D.C Area Film Critic Association, Young Entertainers Awards along with Awards Circuit Community Award.
